Miami Travel Guide | Our 3 Night Itinerary

My hubby and I booked a super last minute trip to Miami at the beginning of the month and had a blast! Since I had 3 days off in between the regular school year and summer school, we decided to go for it! It was like an early anniversary getaway as well. This is a rather short travel guide simply because our time in Miami was so quick, but we definitely did several things worth sharing!

Our Hotel

The best part of our trip to Miami was the breathtaking hotel room! Since we found super cheap flights for this trip, we decided to splurge some on the hotel room. A room with a view is always my weakness! Plus we absolutely love the Kimpton Hotel chain (this makes the 6th one we’ve stayed at!) You can’t beat the dog friendly policy, exceptionally polished rooms, and complimentary wine hour, among other amenities. There are several Kimptons in the Miami area, but we stayed at the Kimpton Epic which is on the Miami River.

Night 1

Our flight landed late on our first night in Miami so we didn’t do much. But we did have the chance to grab pizza at Mister O1 which was so good! It was actually recommended to us by several people. We are lucky that my husband has family and friends in Miami so we received tons of fabulous recommendations for this trip and enjoyed their company as well.

Day 1

Our first day in Miami was likely the only sunny day we would have according to the weather forecast. We tried to knock out as much sightseeing as possible in the morning. We started with breakfast at La Industria Bakery, a Venezuelan and Puerto Rican cafe owned by Nicky Jam. The pancakes were delicious but make sure you order them to share! My husband and I shared and still didn’t finish them. It was a really fun experience though!

After breakfast we headed to the Wynwood district of Miami to see the Wynwood Walls. This was so interesting and a great place for taking Instagram worthy pictures. Next we took an Uber to the South Beach area to explore, admire the sights, and have a drink. We did rack up a hefty Uber bill on this trip as it was the easiest way to get around to different areas – just something to keep in mind! We had planned to spend the afternoon going to a beach in Key Biscayne, but unfortunately in typical Florida fashion a thunderstorm popped up and stayed around for a few hours. Instead, we ordered room service for lunch and hung out in the room!

Night 2

The rain subsided for a bit in the evening so we were able to get dressed up for a nice dinner! We ate at Casablanca on the River and the seafood risotto was amazing! I’d probably say it was the best I’ve ever had. After dinner my husband’s cousins took us to the neatest wine bar called Lagniappe. We never would have found this gem without their recommendation, so I’m happy to be able to share it with you! It has a large outdoor patio with plenty of room for hanging out with friends, plus a wide assortment of wine and charcuterie. I loved the vibes of this place!

Night 2

Our 2nd day in Miami was definitely our relaxation day, largely due to the weather! It was pouring all day and flooding in many areas. We ordered food to the room, watched Netflix, and took advantage of the wine hour at the hotel. We did brave the weather to grab drinks and dinner with my husband’s cousins again. I had SO much fun at MIA Beer Company. They had so many beers on tap that it was hard to choose 4 for a flight. The appetizers we ordered were also delicious!

I hope you enjoyed this quick Miami travel guide! Check out more of my travel guides here, including our other stays at Kimpton Hotels such as Asheville and New York.
