Rincón, Puerto Rico | Our 3 Day Itinerary

Recently I shared everything I packed for our most recent trip to Puerto Rico and now it’s finally time to share the full travel guide! I will say that we really prioritized relaxation during this trip so this travel guide may not be as lengthy as others. This was a last minute 3 day getaway to celebrate my birthday. It was honestly the best! We traveled to Puerto Rico a few years ago and had so much fun visiting San Juan and Culebra. For this trip, we were eager to visit the western side of the island (specifically Rincón), as we heard it was known for its beaches and beautiful sunsets. And let’s just say we can definitely confirm that it’s true! Below is our 3 day itinerary for visiting Rincón, Puerto Rico.

Flight

We found a great deal on a flight from Raleigh to BQN, a regional airport located in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. We flew Frontier and did have a layover in Orlando. It was such a good deal that it was hard to pass up on! In fact, the money I earned taking online surveys during the months of January and February paid for my ticket. My favorite apps for taking surveys online are Inbox Dollars and AttaPoll. It is seriously so easy to spend a few minutes of free time each day taking surveys online and save the money for something big! Villa

The number one question I’ve received about our trip to Rincón is where we stayed. The villa we stayed at was BEAUTIFUL and it’s honestly what made me want to take the trip! The name of the grounds is The Villas at Horned Dorset. They are independently owned villas, some of which are rented out to guests. We booked via Airbnb and had a great experience. Our host was very welcoming and attentive. Each villa has a private swim up pool, and there is also a public infinity pool overlooking the ocean. The villas are beachfront and the area is perfect for watching the sunset each night. However, the beach itself isn’t great for sunbathing or swimming since there are so many rocks in the area. The villa was absolutely gorgeous and we would most definitely stay again.

Day 1

We wasted no time exploring once we landed in Aguadilla. Since it was going to be a 30 minute drive to our villa, we decided to explore a bit of Aguadilla before heading to Rincon. We used one of my favorite pro tips and packed a change of clothes easily accessible in our backpacks. Our first stop were the Ruinas Faro Punta Borinquen, the remains of an 18th century lighthouse. By this point we hadn’t eaten since 4 am and were starving, so we headed to a waterfront lunch at Sal de Mar Restaurant & Rooftop Bar. Everything was delicious but I especially loved the lobster croquettes. We also walked around Crash Boat Beach before making the drive to Rincón via our Enterprise rental car that we picked up the airport.

After checking into the villa and enjoying some of the amenities, we got ready to head to dinner at La Copa Llena. This was probably my favorite meal of the trip, partly because of the meal and partly because of the ambiance. The food was delicious but I loved the overall vibe of this waterfront restaurant.

Day 2

Our first full day of the vacation was solely focused on relaxation! Hubby still had to do some work while on vacation but it wasn’t half bad when drinking mimosas by the pool. We also had some iguana friends at the villa that we enjoyed watching. We explored at lunchtime and ate a Puerto Rican sortido at The Beach House. After watching the sunset, we went out again for dinner at La Cambija. The ceviche was delicous!

Day 3

On our last full day in Puerto Rico, we spent another relaxing morning at the villa. We also wanted to explore a few beaches in the area so we headed to Domes Beach and Sandy Beach before having lunch at El Tamboo. Similar to yesterday, we were back at the villa in the afternoon to enjoy the amenities and sunset. We ate dinner at Taste Gastrobar, located in downtown Rincón, and we really enjoyed it.

I highly recommend a visit to Rincón if you enjoy sunsets, relaxation, and good food. I especially loved the Villas at Horned Dorset and look forward to staying there again one day! If you enjoyed this travel guide, you can check out my other travel guides here.
