Boston Travel Guide | Top 10 Places to Visit

After returning from our cruise, my husband and I headed north to spend the rest of the holiday break in Boston! My brother in law and his girlfriend live there, and we had not yet been to visit them. It was a super fun trip with a mix of exploring the city and visiting family. Since we stayed with family and ate at home some nights, this Boston travel guide is focused mostly on the places we visited. Although I did throw in a few restaurant recommendations! Boston is a large and lively city and I know we didn’t come close to visiting everything it has to offer. However, our lovely tour guides definitely took us to many of the highlights! Check out my travel guide below with a list of the top 10 places to visit in Boston.

Top 10 Places to Visit

  1. Fenway Park: Even if it’s during the off season, a walk by Fenway Park is a must while in Boston! We stopped by a super cool bar with views of the field – Bleacher Bar.
  2. Boston Common and Public Garden: These are two beautiful parks in Boston adjacent to each other. We walked through and took some amazing pictures at sunset!
  3. Quincy Market: Quincy Market, located in the Faneuil Hall Marketplace, is a top attraction in Boston that is a must see! There are several local food spots, but I recommend the clam chowder or lobster rolls!
  4. Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum: We visited this beautiful art museum while in Boston and it did not disappoint. Aside from it’s unique artwork, it is also known for a large theft from 1990 that remains unsolved. It was the largest museum robbery in history and the frames of the stolen artwork are still hanging in the museum.
  5. Harvard University: We couldn’t go to Boston without visiting Harvard! The campus was lovely of course, but I was also surprised by how nice the area surrounding the university is. There are many shops and restaurants to stop by.
  6. Boston Public Library: I have never seen a library more beautiful than the Boston Public Library. In fact, it is so stunning that couples have weddings here. It is definitely worth a visit!
  7. Boston Harbor: We took a cruise through the Boston Harbor at sunset and the views were amazing! Definitely something to check out if you have the chance.
  8. Fan Pier Pavilion Roof: After the cruise through the harbor, we walked along the waterfront and stopped by the Fan Pier Pavilion Roof. This was a great spot for photos of the Boston skyline! Like many places in Boston, it is a lovely place to walk around.
  9. USS Constitution and Bunker Hill: If you are a history buff, Boston is great for you! It was super interesting to stop by the USS Constitution ship and Bunker Hill. Both are located in the Charlestown area of Boston, which is very beautiful. They are also both stops on Boston’s Freedom Trail, a trail that directs you to the various historic spots in Boston.
  10. Food/Drinks: The last item on this post is dedicated to the many places to eat and drink in Boston! Keep in mind these are only a few recommendations. Some notable places we went to were Mecha Noodle Bar (amazing pho and ramen), Trillium Brewing Company (good selection of beer and food), 1928 Beacon Hill (we went for NYE), Mike’s Pastry (one word-cannolis), Time Out Market (also had lobster rolls here), MAST (good pizza place).
