Classroom Tour | My Favorite Items + How I Organize

It’s a month into the school year and I’m finally getting around to sharing my classroom tour with you. Which goes to show just how crazy busy this school year has been already! But one thing that makes my job 10x easier is keeping my classroom organized. With the help of family and friends, I put in a TON of work organizing and decorating my classroom before my first year. But the hard work has definitely paid off because I’ve hardly changed anything over the last 5 years. I’ve only added things here and there along the way. For all of my teacher friends, I’m sharing below some of my favorite areas in my classroom and how I keep things organized.

Organization

  • STORAGE BINS: I swear I have at least 50 storage bins of some sort in my classroom. They are the absolute best! I love the way the bins look organizing my classroom library. I also use them for organizing supplies, manipulatives, assignments, and more. All of the colorful bins I bought for my classroom were $1 each from either Target or Dollar Tree.
  • 10 Drawer Cart: I love this caddy that I keep by my desk. It’s perfect for storing my paperwork, but could also be used for storing classroom supplies as well.
  • Storage Crates: These storage crates serve 2 purposes for me – storage and flexible seating. They have held up since my first year teaching and the students love them! My family made these for me so I can’t take the credit. But there are tons of tutorials online for using crates to make flexible seating.
  • Student Folders: As an EC teacher, one thing I’ve always used for organizing student data is color coded binders or folders. I decided to use folders this year as they don’t take up as much space. These folders from Target are only 50 cents and I color code them by grade level. Inside the folder are student assignments and work samples.
  • Headphones: Last year I invested in some colorful headphones for students to use in my classroom. They each have their own pair and I write their initials on the side. I wasn’t sure how to organize them when I first got them and they became a tangled mess. I had the idea to use a headband organizer and it works great! It also looks so cute which is always a plus.

Other Favorites

  • Rugs: I love the homey feel that the fuzzy rugs bring to my classroom. Two of them were donated from my mom, but I bought another one this year from Amazon.
  • Pink Chairs: The pink convertible chair and pink saucer chair were also donated to me by my mom, but I was able to find links for them from Walmart in case you’re interested. My students LOVE having these flexible seating options.
  • Hundreds Chart: This hundreds chart was another Amazon find for my classroom. It serves as a point of reference and as a math station. Since the numbers are removable, students can complete activities using it.
  • Sit Spots: I love using these sit spots in my classroom. It helps with classroom management for when students sit on the carpet, and it also adds another cute pop of color.
  • Decorations: The colorful apple theme has been with me since my first year. I bought everything (borders, calendar, etc) from the Target Dollar Spot, but linked a similar theme that I found from Amazon. I also used this fadeless black bulletin board paper and it’s held up great! As far as the other signs, labels, etc., some things I made myself and some things are from Teachers Pay Teachers (Stem Bins, Black, White & Bright Labels, Classroom Rules).
  • Office Chair: This purchase was made during my 3rd year and I wish I would have made it sooner! I may not get to sit down much, but when I do it should at least be comfortable haha! This chair is good quality and I’m really happy with the purchase!

I hope all of my fellow teachers are having a great year! If you have any questions about my classroom tour or other items in the pictures, feel free to drop a comment below! πŸ™‚ To see some of my back to school teacher outfit inpso – click here.
