Last month I traveled to San Antonio, Texas for work but was fortunate enough to bring along my +1, AKA my hubby! Since he works from home it is easy for him to accompany me on trips. This was our first time visiting San Antonio together. Being the foodies that we are, we prioritized hitting some of the highly rated restaurants and bars in the area. Each place was truly so fun and delicious! Below is my list of the must visit restaurants and bars in San Antonio. Stay until the end for outfit inspo pics from the trip because I just couldn’t help myself!
Nonna Osteria
When it comes to Italian restaurants, my husband and I can be quite particular. He is Italian and we’ve had several amazing pasta dishes in Rome. We LOVED the vibe and the food at Nonna Osteria. Located in downtown San Antonio inside the Fairmount Hotel, this restaurant provided an authentic Italian experience. We started with arancini, followed by carbonara and ravioli zucca, and then finished with affogato. Everything paired nicely with a bottle of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo wine.
Cured
We made it to Cured just in time for their happy hour specials where we enjoyed Prosecco, quail legs, and a charcuterie board. This restaurant is located in the Pearl District which was gorgeous! You definitely have to stop by this district while in San Antonio. What we loved even more than happy hour food and drinks at Cured was the vibe of the location including the hanging meats. Super cool!
Sternewirth Tavern & Club Room
The Sternewirth Tavern is also in the Pearl District and is located within Hotel Emma. The tavern was set up with tons of small and large seating areas where you can enjoy drinks and small plates with friends. We also loved all of the historical decorations, including the cast-iron fermentation tanks. They have a fun cocktail menu and diverse wine list.
Southerleigh Fine Food & Brewery
Dinner at Southerleigh Fine Food & Brewery came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. Very delicious food also within the Pearl District. I ordered the scallop risotto and my husband had the steak frites, two solid choices!
Little Em’s Oyster Bar
I found this cute restaurant on a whim and was so glad that we tried it out! It was actually my first time trying raw oysters. They were so good that we had to get two orders of them. I ate the spicy shrimp linguine (yum!) and my husband had the lobster roll. It was a beautiful evening and we enjoyed sitting on their outdoor patio.
Historic Market Square
I know this isn’t technically a restaurant but we did have some amazing street tacos so I wanted to include it. We had the best time exploring the Historic Market Square, the largest Mexican market in the United States. There were tons of shops, food, and drinks, and we even got to see a traditional performance which was super fun. I highly recommend checking this spot out while in San Antonio!
Outfit Inspo
Although we were in San Antonio for almost a full week, I was super proud that I was able to pack everything in only a carry on. I think I’m becoming an expert at packing light which is thanks to curating a closet full of neutral items that can be styled multiple ways. Below are a few pieces I packed for the trip! You can currently take an extra $15 off for new customers with code WELCOME at orthofeet.
