Sunny's Story | + the Best Company for Animal Lovers

If you know me, then you probably already know how obsessed I am with my dog. But if you don’t know me well, allow me to introduce you to the girl that this blog is named after! We adopted Sunny in June of 2017 and our lives were changed forever. The love between a dog and it’s owners is seriously a bond like no other!

My family was actually leaving our house when they spotted Sunny walking around our neighborhood. They pulled over and she jumped right in their car! They brought her back to our house and we noticed she had a collar. We walked her through our entire neighborhood with no luck to see if anyone had lost a dog. She knew how to sit and shake, and would go to the door when she needed to go out. We knew there must be a family out there looking for her. Since it was Sunday evening, we couldn’t call animal control, so we kept her overnight. We posted on Facebook pages within the community that we had found a dog. The next day, we thought we were doing the right thing by calling animal control to take her to the pound.

It was so hard leaving her and I couldn’t stop thinking about her all day! I called the pound to see if anyone had claimed her but no one had. The man explained to me that the owner’s had 1 week to claim her before she would go up for adoption. After that, she would have 3 days before she could possibly be put to sleep due to capacity. OMG talk about heart wrenching. From then on I called EVERY DAY to see if this sweet girl was claimed by her owners, but she never was. So on the first day she was up for adoption, I called the pound again to say I was coming. He told me that adoptions didn’t start until 2:00 pm, but that it was a first come first serve basis and some groups from out of state had called about her.

So I did what anyone else would have done….. got in my car at 9:00 am and drove over there! I let them know that I was here in the parking lot, and he told me that my time would start over if I left for any reason. Honestly, I didn’t understand why it was so complicated. I was there trying to save the dog that we had found! But yes, I waited in the parking lot for 5 hours (luckily my husband was able to bring me some lunch and hang out for a while). But the most important thing is that we got our Sunny girl, and our lives haven’t been the same since! ♡
